MAY

Mother’s Day
May 12 at 11:30 am
Get ready for Mother’s Day with a special craft. Regular admission applies.

Paper Circuits
May 13 at 9 am to 1030 am
Kids will create a light-up card while learning about circuits. This is for kids ages 6 to 14 years old. The child’s caregiver must be in the museum during the program. All materials needed for the workshop will be provided and no experience is necessary. $10 per child. Preregistration is required.

Hands-On Science Area

Our Hands-On Science Area for children 5-12 years old and their grown-ups will be open. Visitors will explore physics, engineering, math and logic through interactive activities. (Children under 5 will not be allowed in the Hands-On Science Area, but can enjoy our Eureka! Science Center, the museum’s permanent science exhibit.) General admission applies. The Hands-On Science Area was made possible through a grant from the Women’s Giving Circle of Northcentral WV with additional support provided by the LEGO Children’s Fund.

Cardboard Automata

May 27 at 9 am to 1030 am
Kids will create kinetic art while learning how cams and gears work. This is for kids ages 6 to 14 years old. The child’s caregiver must be in the museum during the program. All materials needed for the workshop will be provided and no experience is necessary. $10 per child. Preregistration is required.

Celebrate West Virginia! Kick off event
June 22 from 4-7 pm
To celebrate West Virginia’s birthday, Spark is partnering with other Mountaineer Country Museums to encourage everyone to celebrate WV. At the Celebrate WV Kickoff event, children and adults can do hands-on activities to learn about other museums and historic sites to visit in northcentral WV. Each family will receive a passport that describes special family friendly hours and events at all of the participating sites the weekend of June 23-25. Participants who get their passport stamped at 3 different sites during the weekend will be entered to win a prize. Also at the kickoff event, participants can visit Spark’s exhibits, listen to live Appalachian music and do Appalachian crafts. The Kick Off Event is free.

Harry Potter Birthday Party
July 29 from 10 am-1 pm
Spark is celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday! Join us for wand making and chemistry experiments. Visitors can also enjoy the “Muggle Artifact” museum, answer HP trivia questions, and more. Regular Admission applies.

 

PAST EVENTS

Robotics Day
April 8 from 10 am -1 pm
Do you love robots? Celebrate National Robotics Week at Spark! Participants will have an opportunity to learn about and manipulate the Mountaineer Area Robotics (MARS) robots, take home a drawing made by a robot, build a brushbot and play with a Sphero.  Admission to this special event is free with donation of food for a food pantry.

Passover Craft
April 11 at 11:30 am

Make a special Passover craft. Regular admission applies.

Egg Hunt
April 14 from 10 am- 1 pm

Visitors can go on a bird egg hunt, looking for pretend bird eggs in the museum while learning about different types of birds, do a bird craft and and see real birds from the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia. Regular admission applies.

Cardboard Creations Day
April 17 from 10 am- 1 pm

A cardboard box can be so many things, a doll house, an arcade game, a space ship and so much more. Spark will provide the materials and visitors will provide the imagination at our first ever Cardboard Creations Day. Regular Admission applies.

Bites and Brews
April 22 from 5 pm to 9 pm
Enjoy craft beer, delicious food, and great music at West Virginia Bites and Brews at the WV National Guard Readiness Center at 90 Army Way in Morgantown.

West Virginia Bites & Brews offers attendees samples of “bites” from local food trucks and mobile vendors as well tastes of several microbrews. There will be huge raffle baskets and amazing music from local band, Main Street Hustle. Cost is $40 per person for “bites and brews” and $30 for “bites only”. There is a $5 discount per ticket when purchased before April 1, 2017. Tickets are available at the Museum and online at sparkwv.yapsody.com.

World Penguin Day

Visit Spark for our annual Space Day event. Children and adults will enjoy the inflatable planetarium show and the space related activities and demonstrations. Admission is $5 per person for non-members. For Spark! Imagination and Science Center members, admission is $5 per child, adults free.

Healthy Teeth Saturday
February 4 from 10 am-1 pm
Spark! celebrates National Children’s Dental Health Month with Free admission and special programming. At the museum, kids and their grown-ups can explore how to keep teeth healthy with hands-on crafts and demonstrations. Kids can also dress up as dentists and care for our puppet’s teeth in the Grow Up Strong exhibit. Free giveaways while supplies last. Admission is free.

Adult Valentine’s Day LED Card
February 7 from 6:30-8:00 pm
Create a light up Valentine’s Day card while learning about circuits. This program is for adults only. All materials needed for the workshop will be provided and no experience is necessary.

$10 members/$15 non-members. Preregistration required

Children’s Valentine’s Day LED Card

International Polar Bear Day
February 25 from 10 am to 1 pm

Learn how we can help polar bears by lowering our carbon footprint. Visitors will receive a reusable grocery bag, one per family, while supplies last. Regular admission applies.

School is Out, the Museum is In
January 2 from 10 am to 4 pm
Spark will be open for special Monday hours. Visitors can enjoy the hands-on exhibits and take part in our first Young at Art Program, making an insoluble painting that combines science and art. Young at Art is for kids 5 and up. Regular admission applies.

Healthy Saturday
January 7 from 10 am to 1 pm
To inspire kids and their grown-ups to start the year off healthy, Spark! will have hands-on nutrition activities, and games and crafts that make you want to exercise. This event is free thanks to a generous sponsorship from Cardinal Pediatrics.

Science Day

Children and adults will get excited about science at our annual Science Day event. Children will participate in fun and interactive activities on physics, nano-science and much more. Tickets are $6 per child, $2 per adult for non-members (free for members). Ticket price includes admission to the museum and participation in all science table activities. Children who visit all the tables will receive a prize.

Looking for a fun and creative holiday activity?  Do you enjoy crafting and tinkering? Spark! Imagination and Science Center isn’t just for kids! We’re hosting a Paper Circuits Makers Program exclusively for adults. Participants in the workshop will make and take home a light-up holiday card.  The cost of the Paper Circuits Makers Program is $15 for non-members or $10 for members per adult.
